Be up
Be up started off as a free write. Around the time I wrote it, I had been listening to songs like Wicked Games and Beauty & Essex, and trying to find more songs that fit a similar vibe.
This song is about a casual and intense relationship. One of those where you don't see each other often, but have affectionate and loving times together. You play pretend you're in a relationship, for just one night at a time; then, go your separate ways. Its the best of both worlds.
Its a common theme in the two songs that inspired it, and in a few of the songs I've written this year. I might have to put these all together in a playlist sometime.
These lyrics are some of my favorites. I liked them so much, I made them a pre-chorus:

The hook itself, I actually came up with before working on this song. It came to me out of the blue one day. Just words and melody. I wrote it down and was intending to write a song around it.
I thought of trying it out as I was writing Be up and it fit in perfectly, so I kept it in:

Seshun made the beat for this song. I got to sit in his home studio while he worked on it for a little while. He also made another song that could maybe fit this vibe with me called Belong in LA.
I went out to Music in Focus studio to have it recorded, mixed and mastered. I sang the hook myself. Trying to stay in my lane vocally, but I keep having ideas for singing parts in songs. Gonna have to seriously consider some classes.
I found a great artist on upwork to do the cover named Us Adhikari. I really love his style and think it captured the mood so well!
As always, Dennis filmed the performance video. We filmed it at Prophecy film studio.
